Spain / US House
Home > Spain / US House
Spain/US House will be a Washington, D.C. attraction —a place where visitors enjoy the best contemporary and classical art, music, dance, literature, cinema, cuisine and culture of Spain.
It will also serve as a meeting place for Hispanic and American leaders to engage in lively dialogue on cultural, social, economic, educational and political matters.
Spain/US House will be housed in a historic grand mansion on 16th Street NW in the heart of a thriving, revitalized Hispanic and cultural neighborhood, whose residents will be served through the Center's community events. Formerly the official home of Spain’s ambassadors to the U.S., the building is unoccupied and in need of repairs; once renovated, the 30,000 square-foot facility will include multi-use exhibition and lecture halls, an auditorium, conference rooms, offices and a library. The Center will be part of the cultural and education facilities of the Embassy of Spain.
The prestigious Washington architectural firm of Karn, Charuhas, Champman & Twohey is designing the Center, and completion is anticipated in the course of 2012.
